About About the Therapist
Rebecca Tanhara, MBACP
Rebecca is a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist supporting adults and young people with a broad range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relational challenges, and identity-related concerns.
Her work is grounded in an integrative, relational approach, with the therapeutic relationship understood as central to meaningful and lasting change. Rebecca offers a calm, thoughtful, and containing presence, working at a pace that feels safe and manageable for each individual. She is attentive to the complexity of each client’s lived experience, creating a space where difficult emotions can be explored with care, depth, and respect.

In addition to her private practice, Rebecca has extensive experience within the NHS, including NHS Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT), where she developed a strong understanding of common mental health difficulties alongside the pressures of modern life. She has also worked within the voluntary sector, including with The Counselling Partnership, and has provided bereavement support through Rowland Brothers in Croydon, supporting individuals and families in the aftermath of loss. These roles have shaped her commitment to offering therapy that is both clinically grounded and deeply compassionate.
Rebecca has a particular interest in working with individuals navigating complex or unhealthy relationship dynamics, as well as those processing trauma and significant life events. She recognises that psychological healing is rarely linear, and values creating a therapeutic space that supports reflection, resilience, and the possibility of change over time.
Her practice is suited to those seeking a reflective, depth-oriented therapeutic experience, where there is space to think, feel, and make sense of difficulties within the context of a supportive and attuned relationship.

Initial Consultation
I offer an initial consultation to explore what’s bringing you to therapy and to help us both decide whether working together feels like a good fit.
This session provides space to:
Initial consultations are 20 minutes and are charged at £25
This is a professional assessment and fit conversation rather than a therapy session. If we decide to work together, ongoing sessions will be arranged separately.
Your Initial Session and Working Agreement
If you decide to proceed, we'll schedule your initial session. Before that, we'll send you our Working Agreement, which outlines important details about how we'll work together, including confidentiality.
During your initial session, we'll go over the Working Agreement and take the time to understand your history, reasons for seeking therapy, and identify approaches that may work well for you. By the end of this session, it's important to us that we have agreed upon a way of working that feels comfortable and supportive to you.
Flexible Counselling Tailored to Your Needs
Throughout our sessions, we'll regularly discuss the number of sessions that may be beneficial for you. You are never tied to a predetermined set of sessions, and we can end when you feel it's appropriate. However, whenever possible, we encourage having an ending session to ensure a planned and safe conclusion to our therapeutic journey together.
Don't hesitate to schedule your 20-minute consultation today. It's a no-pressure opportunity for us to connect, explore your needs, and discuss how we can provide the support you're seeking. We're here to guide you and create a safe and confidential space where you can grow and thrive.
How we work
In our sessions, we provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental therapeutic space where we can explore both your present and past issues. We understand that in order to understand your current struggles, it can be helpful to delve into your earliest childhood relationships. That's why we take an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to offer a unique and tailored experience for each client. We recognise that every person has different life experiences, and there isn't a one-size-fits-all counselling approach.
Our Approach: Tailored Therapy for Your Unique Needs
During our sessions, we may incorporate different therapeutic approaches based on what will be most beneficial for you. Here are some approaches that we may draw upon:
Working Together for Your Growth
By integrating these various approaches, we can tailor our sessions to meet your unique needs and goals. Whether we're exploring past experiences, managing current challenges, or developing new coping strategies, we will work collaboratively with you to create a supportive and empowering therapeutic journey. Together, we will build resilience, foster personal growth, and enhance your overall well-being.
If you're ready to embark on this transformative process, we invite you to reach out and schedule a session. We're here to support you every step of the way.
